Masjid Ahlus Sunnah

As the creative director of Summit City Islamic Center, DBD Visual Firm played a key role in launching and establishing this masjid as a professional, community-facing, and legally recognized nonprofit religious organization. From branding and digital setup to legal consultation and strategic behind-the-scenes work, this was a multi-phase project that transformed a grassroots community space into a fully operational institution.

When starting I decided the colors and I went with something welcoming and bold so what better color than yellow. I designed and developed the website, added a secure payment system for monthly donors, created the branding, business cards, flyers, and a 20-foot banner displayed outside the building to give the masjid a strong and welcoming presence. I also set up all the social media pages, created reels, and launched the masjid’s app through the Apple Developer Program something I had to learn completely from scratch. I went with Masjid Box and they made the process easy.

The legal side was new to me too, but with the help of my cousin’s recommendation, I was referred to an amazing lawyer who helped guide us through the process of officially registering the masjid as a nonprofit religious organization.

Every part of this journey was a learning experience from building digital prayer displays to designing and publishing custom masjid notebooks now available on Amazon (all proceeds go to the masjid) . With the help of others, we established something beautiful, and I truly hope it lasts forever. I learned so much, and I’ll always be grateful for the experience.

This was one of the biggest and most meaningful projects I’ve ever taken on. It was a dream my husband and I once shared, to help start a masjid together, and with the grace and mercy of Allah, we was able to create something so special.

Designed and printed clean, branded business cards for masjid leaders.
Flyers & Print Marketing
Produced numerous flyers for programs, classes, and events — each with custom design and consistent branding.
Social Media Creation & Content Launch
Set up and launched all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) with branded profiles, optimized bios, logos, and engaging video reels to initiate digital community engagement.
MasjidBox Digital Prayer Display
Implemented a live digital prayer display system through MasjidBox.com, customized with the masjid’s brand and updated regularly with prayer times and announcements.
Apple Developer Program & Mobile App Launch
Registered and published the masjid’s mobile app through the Apple Developer Program, giving the community iOS access to real-time updates, prayer times, and event notifications.
Nonprofit Establishment Support
Worked directly with a legal advisor to initiate and guide the process of registering the masjid as a nonprofit religious organization. This included gathering documents, coordinating filings, and consulting on structure — ensuring long-term legal compliance and nonprofit status.
Behind-the-Scenes Organizational Support
Provided strategic support in developing the masjid’s administrative structure, branding voice, and community positioning — helping establish a solid foundation for long-term growth and sustainability.
